Whether you prefer gentle or very firm neck support while you sleep, the Air-Core Adjustable Pillow can easily accommodate your support preference. This pillow is commonly used to help treat a variety of conditions affecting the neck and shoulders. This pillow is designed with the same features of our popular Tri-Core Cervical Support Pillow with the addition of an inflatable neck roll for convenient adjustability. An inflatable neck roll is built into one of the cervical lobes for customized support. The pillow's shaped center gently cradles the head for better sleep when lying on the back. When sleeping on your side, the raised side panels will help keep the head level for proper alignment of the spine. If you are new to sleeping on a cervical pillow, the Air-Core may help reduce the time it takes for your body to adjust to its new sleeping posture. Carefully follow the instructions included in the package for a step-by-step explanation on how to adjust to sleeping on your new pillow. It may take some time to adjust to this cervical pillow and immediate overuse can actually increase neck pain. Those who slowly ease their way into orthopedic correction by alternating between this pillow and their current pillow achieve the best results. The Air-Core Adjustable Cervical Support Pillow conveniently fits into your favorite standard pillowcase. Pillow size: 24 x 16 inches. Made in USA.

I suffer from a lot of neck problems and sleep on my back with the best neck support I can find. I've tried neck rolls, the wonder pillow, an expensive inflatable (developed a leak at around 18 months), etc. I also have need for VARIABLE neck support depending on both neck and migraine status. The delight of this pillow is that the inflatable baffle allows me to vary the neck support as needed, and unlike my other inflatable, I can reach up in the middle of the night to adjust it as needed. It works using the kind of inflation thingy you find on a blood pressure cuff. My other inflatable used a pump like you might get with an exercise ball. Easy enough to deflate a little at night - but to inflate you would actually need to wake up, find the pump, etc.Though I seldom sleep on my side, I do try to take naps on my side, and I find this pillow great for slide sleeping. Plenty of positions, good neck support, and a hollow for my nose so I'm able to breathe easily without my face being all smushed up in the pillow. I remember when I was a regular side sleeper that I always had to sleep on the edge of the pillow to be able to breathe well. This is great - and would work really well for anyone on a CPAP.So why only 5 stars? I don't know if this is a consistent problem or a quality control issue, but the air baffle doesn't seem to be centered. I find that when I blow the baffle up to a fairly stiff level, I can detect the edge of it and my head rolls off to the left if I don't stick a towel or something under the pillow to compensate. Frustrating, but I still love this pillow!!Someone recommended this pillow to me, so I decided to try it out.Firstly, it takes some time to get used to. It is definitely designed to be used for sleeping on your back, as it does feel awkward for side sleeping. The included documentation says that you can use the thick side sections of the pillow for side sleeping, but that just made it feel like a regular pillow. Only worse, because my head kept getting sucked into the hole in the middle anyway. However, even through some awkward nights on my side, I never had any discomfort in my neck. In fact, my neck and back feel better than they have in a long time.Over time, I've adjusted to sleeping more on my back. This pillow is actually quite comfortable in that position, and it's better for your back and neck anyway. If you get this pillow, give back sleeping a serious effort if you don't normally. It could be worth it for you. It will take some time, but you may end up liking it.The adjustable pump is a nice feature, but in my opinion, it doesn't make that much of a difference. I should play around with it more, but more than anything the pump kind of gets in the way. It's just an awkward hard object in your bed that you may contend with. It hasn't really gotten in my way though, so I didn't dock much for it.\In the end $30+ seems expensive, but for a good night's sleep, it's totally worth it, and that's how much you'll spend on a nice pillow anyway. So, in my opinion, it's worth a shot. It's definitely designed for back-sleepers, but may be enough to convert side-sleepers with back/neck pain. This pillow keeps my neck aligned. It's not feathery or cushy. I have a slight "Reverse Curve" in my neck. What this pillow does for me is keeps my spine and neck aligned in the normal C-shape curve that babies are born perfectly with). One of the reasons why people have hunched shoulders, hunched head, or back pain is often because they don't realize a reverse curve in the neck is starting. I was luckily warned by my chiropractor early enough to be aware and treat the problem gently and with time. This pillow is designed to keep my neck aligned for 8 hours every night, hands free, and when I wake up, I feel like my head is sitting relaxed and natural above my shoulders, not hunched forward, nor stiff. For kicks, I took a picture of my neck when sleeping *on the side* on a regular pillow versus this one. It was clearly visible that my spine dipped downward in the area of the neck with the regular pillow, and I could not believe I have slept like that for so many years! When I first laid on the side, it felt uncomfortable, but after seeing the photo, I decided it was a much safer alternative to sleeping on the side as well. For those of you who want a "cushion" for your neck, this is probably not what you're looking for. But in my opinion it's a very healthy reverse curve treatment, if done properly. Even if you don't want to sleep with it every night, I think one night a week, I imagine, would be a good therapy for the neck. NOTE: If you do buy this pillow, I would recommend to set the height so that it is comfortable, overdoing the height can cause neck stiffness; and in my opinion, I would never sacrifice fluidity and flexibliity for "correct posture", it would defeat the purpose of the pillow.I got this because of some issues with neck tightness. I like that there are multiple parts of the pillow that allow for multiple sleeping positions and comfort levels. I like the pump up air bladder for giving custom levels of support, but it does need to be repumped often and you never end up with the same level as the last time.I'm always afraid the hose is going to pull out so I'm careful to position it to the outside of the bed. The pump is a simple bulb you squeeze with a nice knob you rotate to release or lock in the air. It's very similar to what they have on blood pressure sleeve. It also doesn't seem durable enough to have on the bed when I am just sitting up. I take it off and replace with another pillow.Overall it's a great pillow, but they could improve its durability or you can baby it and that will help it last a long time.
