I haven't read the first edition but the second edition is excellent. I have read it cover to cover and it is easily the best book on the subject since John Darlings seminal work "Air Rifle Hunting". Although it is focussed on hunting in the UK and the use of sub 12 ft/lb rifles I have still found a lot of it relevent to hunting in New Zealand. The section of FAC rifles (a new chapter for this edition I think) probably helps broaden its audience.The book is pitched well and neither too basic or too technical for me. An emphasis on practicing markmanship and fieldcraft over buying all the latest gear is a good one. Great read!!
