With the virus and the upcoming cold and flu season, I wanted the cleanest air I could have in my house. Now when one of my pathogen spraying, loud mouth, slob friends comes over to my house, I just run the fan in the HVAC system and I can clean up his stench and airborne germs almost immediately.This thing is great. I should have done one of these UV-C lights for my home air system years ago. I noticed the difference almost overnight. Now I have almost hospital clean air in my house because I also added a MERV 13 filter.I could not mount the UV-C light above the A coil like they suggest, and I had some misgivings about that mounting idea anyways, so I mounted mine in the return air duct about 3 feet above the air filter and off to the side. I understand the idea behind killing the mold and bacteria on the A coil, but I didn't have the room, plus I didn't like the idea of mounting my expensive UV-C light above the heat exchanger where the air in the winter can get above 150 degrees. It will kill enough germs in the return air before they pass through the MERV 13 filter.I already know it's working as I used to sneeze almost every time my A/C turned on. Now I don't. And the air smells fresher too.Installation is easy as long as you have an outlet nearby to plug into. Also you'll need a metal hole saw 2 1/2". And keep in mind if you install above the A coil, you'll probably drop pieces of metal on the A coil when you do your sheetmetal work for the installation. At least in the return duct I was able to remove the filter and reach in there and vacuum up the metal pieces.I love the fact the bulb does not run continually like almost all the other models and the airflow sensor works great. I'll burn less electricity, and my bulb will last so much longer and I'll still kill as many germs as the models that stay on continually. It does have a time delay on shut-off and will stay on after the air shuts down for 10-15 seconds.OdorStop has a hit with this one. Now days, every school, public building, and home should have some sort of germicidal lamp in their HVAC system.
