other than the size advertised, it a great toy. My 150 pound dog doesn't care for it.In the picture you will see the original store bought toy I was replacing. This first part of the review is being added months after the original review was written:After reading many of the one and two star reviews I am compelled to comment.Come on people, every dog who is an aggressive chewer will destroy any toy eventually. Of course, a responsible owner will monitor every toy his pet is using. I'm writing this after providing my dog with another new "Squeaker Bone" and having her remove 50% of the yellow cover in the first 30 minutes. I know she is an aggressive chewer and that is the reason I buy at least two of these toys at a time.I don't expect any dog toy to last forever. I search for toys that will last longer than the average. My dog is an extremely aggressive chewer and I'm happy to continue to use this product knowing I must monitor her destruction of it. I'm OK with her tearing off the cover almost immediately after she starts to play with it. It gives her pleasure and that's what I want to do for her. (As an aside, I suppose I could give her an auto tire to chew on. The thing is, she probably wouldn't play with it. So, even though it would last forever, what would be the point??)Below is the original review:Does your dog destroy most toys? Do you cringe when you purchase a stuffed toy knowing you'll be picking up the shredded parts from the floor the very next day? You may have discovered buying cheap dog toys just isn't a good idea.If so, this toy may be what you have been searching for. Like most dog owners I was aware of the durability of the hard rubber Kong brand toy. I also found my dog was uninterested in playing with one unless it was stuffed with food or smeared with peanut butter.Well, this one is different. It's a Kong hard rubber dog toy covered with a durable fabric. It seems the fuzzy fabric surface will keep my dog's interest and keep her chewing it while the sturdy rubber interior keeps the toy from being totally destroyed in the first day. The hollow center make it just soft enough for her to squeeze, while the squeaky noise-maker helps to keep her interest.Eventually she will tear the fabric completely off. After a longer time, she will even begin to chew the hard rubber into fragments causing me to have to discard the remains of the toy. But, it's far, far more durable than anything else I've found. It's definitely a value for the money. My dog is a young, 44 pound, Australian Shepherd. I believe this toy is the largest one Kong makes and it's just the right size for her.It lasts longer than any other chew toy I've found. After pricing these at both of my national chain pet stores, the price on Amazon was less expensive. I buy two at a time and also one of the football shapes for variety. As of this writing, my dog has been playing with it daily for over a month. The fabric is totally gone, but it's still her favorite toy.It may be just what you are searching for. We've had many "chew proof" toys for our dogs and this has proven to be the longest lived one - usually 5 to 6 months. My dog does now know where the squeaker is located, so he usually does a squeakotomy before the first day is over, but all the ones I've tried are still quite functional as chew/fetch toys after having the squeaker removed. [I have had the football, donut, dumbell, and bone--each was small size.] I would say the bone was desqueaked most quickly, then the donut, and one football he's had (still with the squeaker) for a few months now. He still loves chasing the toy and fetching it. [I'm just very cognizant of his being able to desqueak it and watch him carefully until he does, removing the plastic squeaker from his mouth as soon as he removes it...don't want him swallowing it! He also does this with the Kong extra small squeaking tennis balls, which I think I've given up on buying for him any more due to his defuzzing obsession as well!] The donut and football seem to be still loved and fetched regardless of their being w/o a squeaker. However, the bone he keeps trying to defuzz (removing the fuzz and unfortunately swallowing some of it) more than the other two, so I'm probably going to have to throw it away more quickly. I have also just bought the dumbbell, which he doesn't seem quite as excited about, though he has now (a few months later) made a hole in it and pulled off a lot of the fuzz. So in order of "liking" (on my part)--from most to least: football, donut, dumbell, and FAR last, bone. I do think that the fuzzy part is not as good as it used to be, as my dog seems to find it much easier to pull off than in the past. Would probably give it 3 1/2 stars because of that.My lab destroys everything within seconds especially if it has a squeaker. Even past kong toys have not survived but this football is still together 2 weeks later. She absolutely hates she cannotnget to the squeaker, she won't put it down. Highly recommendI have been buying Air Kong toys for my dogs for over 3 years, and I think it's a good product line. It may or may not be good for your dog, it really just depends on the dog.My son's dog lives with my wife and I (we call him our grand-dog...anyway), he's small & skinny like a Whippet ( but he isn't) and this dog likes to "kill" a squeeky toy by removing the squeeker. Once it's "dead", he loses interest. On the other hand, my 70 lb long haired German Shepherd will play with his toys until they literally fall apart. Is the Air Kong product line as tough as the original Kong toys? No! They aren't even built the same. They don't last as long, and I doubt that they could, given the design. I think they were designed with fun in mind. An original Kong toy is made for serious chewing. Air Kong toys seem to be mainly designed for playing, chewing, shaking, tossing and chasing, as well as self entertainment/pacification.Some dogs just aren't into the original Kong. Maybe your dog likes squeeker toys. Most of the other squeeker toys I've seen in stores are pretty flimsy and in fact, many of them remind me of toys I've seen marketed to parents of babies and toddlers. Air Kong toys have more heft; but still, nothing lasts forever! My thought is, a happy dog chewing on a toy is less likely to be chewing something they shouldn't.I buy 3 to 4 of the 3 pack medium size squeeker balls a year, as well as a couple of donuts. Worth the money, in my opinion, but again, it depends on your dog.Dead Kong,Luna (Borador, exactly 10 months old today) wishes to apply as a tester of your products. She is passionate about shredding everything and anything. She is the best of the best and would be an amazing asset to your team. She has a lively personality, loves life and adores her family. Other hobbies include stealing socks + shoes, licking and kissing her family (including our cats - they don't share the love) and eating (she's not fussy and eats anything and everything). As a glowing referral of her extraordinary abilities please refer to the photos. This happened in less than 30minutes of being given her Kong AirDog Squeaker Dumbbell. Sadly, as you can see it was no match for her.If you have a pup like Luna this product is not indestructible or durable but as I say she is the best of the best.Hope to hear from you, EmmaI was so disappointed after reading other reviews I knew my pup would rip the felt covering off and was not bothered by that as long as the actual rubber was classed as for extreme meaning to me strong enough for big strong teeth to play with but within 20 mins all felt covering was removed and I wanted to examine it but she was so excited playing that she wouldn't give it up when offered any of her usual treats so then after about 45 mins I wasn't sure if I could see a little gash or if it was just a mark where covering had come off but still continued offering all her favourite treats in an attempt to grab it but no luck then I noticed it was no longer squeaking and so she started to destroy it, I am very lucky that when she does destroy she doesn't swallow unless I try to grab things so left her to it whilst keep trying to offer her treats, eventually I managed to get it but leaving a trail of grated cheese to get her far enough away that I could beat her to it and as you will see from pics it is now unusable, so in all 90 mins it lasted, I would have thought they could use the same rubber as the other extreme kong toys as she has not destroyed the frisby or the normal kong thing so where I was planning on buying several if they had stood up to her playing now if course I will not be buying again and advise if your dog tends to eat the shredded parts not to try it, such a shame as kong does have a good name and all other kong toys as very good quality so why this one is made of a much weaker rubber I do not know, can only presume they either been taken over by cheapskate company or changed quality for some other reasonAs soon as I unwrapped the package, the dog squeaked it and run off into the garden. Toy not seen since. I do believe that the dog has buried it along with my bloody car keys and the crown jewels.. Has anyone seen my Picasso painting... "BELLA!!! BELLA!!!!".Anyone want a pet Greyhound... she is great at digging and arranging treasure hunts!.. LOL!:-)Awesome toy for her!!We have a 9 year old GSD and a 7 month old GSD...we mistakenly thought that our 9 year old was not interested in toys anymore...that is until the Kong arrived in the post today for our 7 month old. Both our 'boys' wanted it...so much so that my partner has had to order another! This ball is a good size (ordered the large size) and is a decent weight, and feels really sturdy, ideal for medium sized to larger dogs such as GSDs, Labradors, Golden Retrievers etc. but the ball would probably not be suitable for dogs with powerful jaws such as Staffordshire Bull Terriers or Rottweilers. Our younger dog (who is nearly as big as our 9 yr. old) appears to like making the rugby ball squeak, he quickly trots around our old, rambling, mainly open plan (downstairs) cottage, compressing the ball in his mouth making it make high pitched...eeeee awwwww....sounds (trying to paint a picture here) much to our amusement...this even made 'Grumpy' (my partner) laugh! Our pup 'killed' all his other squeaky toys but I have high hopes of this one...that is the kong itself, as the yellow cover is already starting to be ripped off...this is the only negative issue for us.Update...The Kongs are still going strong after a week, some of the yellow cover (on one of them) has been ripped slightly but when our pup starts doing this we offer him his Anco root (recommended by our GSD breeder), which is ideal for heavy gnawing and does not splinter or make much mess, it is saving the ball which is just for supervised and/or interactive play, and it is also saving our carpets and furniture! While in isolation with this lockdown mg husband and I have been doing fitness. I had recently bought some 3kg dumbbells but my dog, Poppy took a shine to them. I think she thought they were a huge weighted bone but for fear she was going to injure her mouth and teeth, I got this. Well, she is over the moon with it and the funny thing is when we do our exercise in the lounge, she then get's her little dumbbell oug too and starts playing with it?. I think in her head, she is e exercising too even to the point of lying on her back when we two do the same for core exercises. It does sort of squeak, the sound is similar to a squeaky spring and made from the same material to a tennis ball is made and very durable.
