I thought I would save a couple of bucks buying a generic cabin air filter. The Puroma filter was a complete waste of money. Not only did it whistle when the fan blew on high, I had garbage floating around in my air box.I tore that thing out and installed the Mahle at twice the price, but it fit like a drum and eliminated the whistle. I counted the pleats but honestly forgot how many there were. Close to thirty if I recall.Mahle is a brand I choose for my Porsche consumables. It is equal or better to OEM Toyota for sure.
