The Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace is commonly worn immediately after an ankle injury and throughout recovery. It's intended to prevent or treat acute ankle injuries, chronic instability, post-operative use and ankle sprains grade I, II, and III. Featuring semi-rigid, anatomically designed shells which help stabilize and protect the ankle. These shells are lined with patented Duplex air cells that enhance circulation and reduce swelling and edema. The air cells are pre-inflated, and provide pulsating compression while walking. This ankle support brace has a low-profile structure, allowing for minimal bulk while wearing shoes. The Aircast Air-Stirrup Ankle Support Brace resists inversion more than taping, yet normal flexion is virtually unrestricted.

Only 3 stars because plastic air cell/foam is very weakly attached with inferior glue to the rigid support and you're going to have to epoxy them in place after a couple weeks use. Also will need to replace mid strap with foot diagram on it with your own 1" wide velcro strap soon. That said, you need a stirrup design like this for anything above grade 1 sprain, mainly because the support goes a lot higher up leg and that helps a lot, even if you think the problem is just around the ankle knobs. Everything is connected. Especially if the surfaces you must walk on on all day are uneven/rough. So get the large which is tallest. Around the ankle knobs all sizes fit the same. After mostly healed or maybe for indoor flat floors you can get by with something lower down like maybe the Aircast airsupport which can be taken on and off much faster and more comfortable/cooler but is right/left dependent. This stirrup model is interchangeable right/left foot despite what aircast says. Can just switch stirrups around. Addressed this in the questions section. The problem is it won't keep the air inside the bags very long. Leaks. Its very stable, it restricts movement. I needed a bit more movement to make it comfortable to walk. Very practical since the size is adjustable. This splint has a strap that goes around the ankle area and another that goes around the calf. Both are the same length. The ankle strap fit fine and was easy to use. Since I am not built like Olive Oyl the strap going around the calf was too short and I had a heck of a time figuring out where I could attach it’s Velcro to hold the splint in place. I’m not impressed. Come on guys. No one has a calf the same diameter as their ankle. How much more could a couple of extra inches of strap have cost the manufacturer? The heal part is adjustable and there's a air hose to inflate the air pockets for extra support around the ankle. I ordered a large and wish I'd gotten bigger. If you have large ankles and calves I'd suggest either an extra large or different type of aircraft. While waiting for a final diagnosis of CIDP these are the only thing that allowed my son to somewhat walk. No other brace worked like these did. CIDP affects the nerves. Because of their simplicity of fastening (velcro) my son was able to put them on by himself and was able to wear them all day without any sores or skin rubbing. There are others that are laced but not as sturdy and definitely not as user friendly for a person who is unable to move his fingers. But these are velcro so no issue at all for him. After a few weeks & still a lot of pain went to a podiatrist & he said it wasn’t enough support for my injury & I was fitted with one that had a bit more stability & less bulk. The new one is a bit harder to put on & take off though.this aircast was useful support for the initial days of a acute swelling and pain from a grade II ankle sprain (partial ligament tear). it did not fit comfortably into a shoe, but as a barefoot aid while moving around the house it was supportive and comfortable. it also supported a good ankle position while the foot was elevated, since an unsupported ankle was either "braced" subconsciously (protective) or straining the ligaments if the foot relaxed. it is an expensive prop given the usefulness (for my injury) was limited to the initial onset of injury (days 1-10). it was more comfortable than a boot, but less practical for anything outside the home.Very pleased with the itemNo lo compren si no están 100% seguros del tamaño. Yo confié en la descripción y la férula resultó muy pequeña para el paciente, por lo que decidí cambiarlo por otro más grande, para mi sorpresa este producto no se puede devolver, así que resultó en pérdida para mi. El vendedor o Amazon deberían indicar si algún producto no se podrá devolver antes de aceptar el pago. El producto en si es de muy buena calidad, lástima de sus malas prácticas comerciales.I have drop-foot and associated weakness in my ankle from nerve damage. I have worn this kind of brace for 35 years. It is the best brace for my needs. This is designed for very a specific thing, torn ligaments. It does not replace a cast and that is why I have no complaints with this product; except for one. The size chart is hard to make out, and personally, I feel like I received a size smaller than what I should have bought. But it still got the job done.El producto e sde muy buena calidad, se amolda a mi tobillo y es reconfortante para la recuperación de mi esguince
